The present edition is based on the Sauer & Leidesdorf edition of 1823 [CINQUIEME CONCERT / PASTORAL / pour le / PIANOFORTE / avec accompagnement de grand Orchestre / compose et dedi / trs respectueusement / A SON ALTESSE ROYALE / OSCAR / PRINCE HRDITAIRE DE SUEDE / par / FERDINAND RIES / Membre de l'academie royale de musique Stockholm / - Op.120. - / Proprit des diteurs. / Vienne / Sauer & Leidesdorf. The Sauer & Leidesdorf edition presents comparatively few major editorial problems although there are numerous minor inconsistencies in the placement of dynamic markings and inconsistently applied articulations which benefit from careful editorial intervention. These are indicated by the use of brackets and dotted slurs. Obvious wrong notes have been corrected without comment. Ries's pedal markings have been left as they appear in the original.
