Details |
The Viola Concerto in E-flat is perhaps one of the most challenging and difficult concertos of the period, let alone for the viola, which is required to play in all of its registers, from the very top to the bottom. The Concerto demonstrates that Kraus was keenly aware of the capabilities of this often overlooked instrument of the string section. The variety, thematic richness, and technical requirements all show that such a solo work could be both challenging and lyrical at the same time. With this rediscovery, violists now have a major work to add to their repertory. |
